    Description

    OSSIE SCHECTMAN autographed 3x5 card.
On November 1, 1946, in the opening game of the Basketball Association of America (BAA), Mr. Schectman scored the opening basket for the New York Knickerbockers against the Toronto Huskies.  The Knickerbockers won that game 68-66.  In 1949, the BAA became the National Basketball Association (NBA).
Mr. Schectman's shot is considered the first basket in NBA history.
Mr. Schectman played in the American Basketball League (ABL) from 1941-46 for the Philadelphia Sphas, before playing for the Knickerbockers during the 1946-47 season.  He then played in the ABL for the Paterson Crescents from 1947-48.
We obtained this signature directly from Mr. Schectman through the mail.  He passed away in 2013.
We are long-time autograph collectors who are selling some of our extra signatures.  We hope that you find some nice additions for your collection!
